Virginia election official says state’s voter rolls are inaccurate

Virginia State Board of Elections vice chair Clara Belle Wheeler wants state lawmakers to focus on cleaning up potential voter fraud before the next election, including cleaning up inaccurate voter rolls.

“I would say one of the problems that we have in Virginia is that our voting list – our lists of registered voters – are inaccurate,” Wheeler said.

Voters registered in more than one state isn’t the only problem. In September, Public Interest Legal Foundation reported finding that in just eight Virginia counties, 1,046 noncitizens had illegally registered to vote and cast nearly 200 ballots before being identified and removed from voter rolls.
