“The N.C. House and Senate Redistricting Committees held simultaneous
hearings at seven locations – including Fayetteville Technical Community
College – to hear reactions to the newly drawn districts. Republican
leaders propose creating more than 30 black-majority districts for the
House and Senate. But many blacks and Democrats say it’s an attempt to
“pack” black voters and limit the power of their votes.”
