Somali Immigrants Charged With Illegal Double Voting in Minn.

Link:

About 50 men and women packed a Rice County courtroom Tuesday afternoon as two Somali women pleaded not guilty to charges of voter fraud stemming from the general election last November.

Farhiya Abdi Dool, 38, and Amina A Hassan, 31, each face one felony charge of unlawful voting for voting once by absentee ballot and once at a polling place during the 2012 general election. Each woman faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the offense.

The women, both naturalized U.S. citizens, were charged June 21.

With Minneapolis-based defense attorney Julie Nelson at their side, Dool and Hassan each entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday afternoon. As was the case with their first court appearances, the women were backed by family members, friends, neighbors and advocates all listening closely to the proceedings.  Supporters of the women say that their actions were an honest mistake that should not be punished with a felony charge. Nelson took the defense a step further during an interview after the hearing.

I find it offensive that these women have been criminally charged,” Nelson said. “These women came to this country, they are naturalized citizens, and they wanted to vote.”

But will U.S. Attorney Todd Jones act?  Double voting in a federal election is a federal crime.  So far, the U.S. Justice Department has been slack in enforcing this federal law which protects federal (as opposed to state) interests.  Meloweese Richardson in Ohio still has not been charged with double voting.  Neither has Wendy Rosen in Maryland.  There are more.  Why isn’t Eric Holder’s Justice Department enforcing federal laws against double voting?  Is it because they voted for the right candidates? Might it have something else to do with the perpetrators? These days, it could be anything.

Alert Alabama postal worker tips off possible mail ballot fraud in Mobile

U.S. Postal Service officials have launched an investigation into the mailing of several absentee ballots for the Mobile municipal, after a postal worker reported what appeared to be voter fraud, according to FOX10 news… postal officials questioned the mailing of numerous ballots bearing similar handwriting, as well as multiple ballots from the same voters being mailed almost daily.”

Mobile City Clerk Lisa Lambert, whose job it is to log in absentee ballots, says, “I would hope no citizen would try to defraud an election by doing something illegal.”  Hope appears to be an insufficient deterrent.

Mayoral candidate Sandy Stimpson tells local reporters that “this investigation should send a message to all voters:  Fraud does happen and it’s up to you to make sure this is a fair election.“

Vote Fraud Truther Challenge: “Lauderdale Lakes commissioner faces voter fraud allegation”

The Vote Fraud Truther Challenge of the Day:

Commissioner Eric Haynes could be facing a felony charge and up to five years in prison for using a fraudulent address when he voted in November.  The Broward Office of Inspector General has forwarded a report to the Florida Elections Commission showing Haynes used the address of a house he sold in August 2012 when voting early on Nov. 3.

At the time, Haynes signed a voting certificate saying that he lived at the address and that “if I commit or attempt to commit fraud in connection with voting … I could be convicted of a felony of the third degree and both fined up to $5,000 and imprisoned for up to five years.”
Haynes said Wednesday it was an innocent oversight and that he was still living in the city.
This post and all others noting voter fraud is dedicated to the Vote Fraud Truther Movement.

Democrat Partisanship a Problem at FVAP? Problem with Kris Kobach?

We received this email from an FVAP insider and permission to publish.  I wonder if Undersecretary Jessica Wright is aware that FVAP staff ridicule the Kansas Secretary of State.  I wonder if Wright knows about the partisan hiring and lack of qualifications detailed in the email.  I wonder if she cares even if she did.  The email:

Scott Stinson, is the FVAP Program Analyst re-titled or promoted to Policy Analyst. When Scott was hired, he and Paddy shared ongoing contempt for the Kansas Secretary of State.  One example, Stinson would say, “What are we going to do about Kris (Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State)?” Then there was much snickering about Kris’s qualifications and intellect, which if you look at Kobach’s Wiki, include Yale, Oxford…Scott Stinson is from Kansas, and was very active in youth Democratic Party activities before moving to DC.

That’s what made him a perfect partner for Paddy.

Why is a Democratic Party activist, wrongly hired in the first place to serve in a sensitive federal election office like FVAP, being promoted, especially after publically mocking a Republican Secretary of State?

Paddy McGuire’s staffing of the Local Election Official group at FVAP should be questioned:
* why staffing up of LOE group, when the mission is to serve military and overseas voters?

* why the emphasis at FVAP on LOE, when the Inspector General reported FVAP failed military voters?

*  why hire young, inexperienced staff with no election admin experience (one did have 18 months in SC)

* the work at the state level was in the year following passage of the MOVE Act – 2009-2010

* state level work was mostly legislative after MOVE Act. Having a staff at FVAP is a waste.

* travel seemed to be cut back, but there is no need for any FVAP Program Analyst to attend State or even Election Center Conferences

* Certification (CERA) at The Election Center will cost upwards of $10,000 – FVAP should have hired experienced election administrators instead of financing CERA for young, inexperienced staff

* Only two current LOE staff has any election admin experience, one with only 18 months in a rural South Carolina jurisdiction.

* Paddy McGuire did have five years as Deputy Secretary of State in Oregon, but no other election admin experience, and during his tenure Paddy served as a partisan, evidenced by this quote after the 2000 election, telling Al Gore, “Mr. Gore, I think we can pull it out for you.”

* Will Paddy deliver the military and overseas vote to Hilary Clinton? Paddy was her 2008 Chair in Oregon.

*  Let’s not forget Paddy’s 2000 LA Times quote as a self described “political hack”

The question must be asked, “did Paddy McGuire hope to gain favor with the Obama administration/Democratic Party in 2010, just as the IRS began targeting conservative groups?

Charlotte Observer on Voter ID

Charlotte Observer story here.

“Groups like the NAACP and ACLU have consistently opposed every election integrity measure, and have even opposed any compromises,” said Adams, who was hired during the Bush Administration but resigned in 2010 after accusing the Obama Administration of having a racial agenda. “They have had longstanding problems even finding plaintiffs who are unable to obtain the free voter identification. This lawsuit is about the politics of the 2014 election, not civil rights. They are trying to mobilize their political base by dishonestly scaring Americans into thinking these new laws to fight voter fraud will impact law-abiding Americans.”
