Ending Section 5 “An Acknowledgment of Victory”

Hans von Spakovsky contributes to SCOTUSblog’s Shelby County v. Holder symposium:

Others claim that Section 5 is the “heart” of the Voting Rights Act and that the VRA cannot effectively survive without it. That is also a historically false claim. How could that be true, when Congress made clear that it considered Section 5 a temporary, emergency provision that would terminate after five years?

… it is Section 2 that is the core provision of the Voting Rights Act. It is the permanent, nationwide ban on racial discrimination in voting that implements the protections of the Fifteenth Amendment. Section 2 gives both voters and the Justice Department an effective tool to stop voting discrimination. Section 5 was a temporary tool that was needed at the time to supplement the protections of Section 2, but the extraordinary circumstances that justified Section 5 in 1965 simply do not exist today.

Voter Fraud Felonies in Indiana: Guilty

Voter fraudster enters plea.

Marshall was one of several people former Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan thanked during his victory speech after winning the Democratic Party nomination for the mayoral race in 2011. Marshall was paid $52,710.23 by the Galligan campaign, according to a previous report in the News and Tribune.

“He was in charge of getting out the vote,” Galligan said in the Oct. 21, 2011 report.

Fox and Friends on Saturday

I was on Fox and Friends this past weekend to talk about drones, the DOJ and media hypocrisy.  Media-ite has a small portion of the video.  Couldn’t find the entire video anywhere for now. Happy to post the full video if someone wants to send a link.  Unfortunately Media Matters didn’t post it, which means I obviously didn’t land any blows to their interests.

Accused Voter Fraudster on Camera: “I Voted Twice”

Must be seen to be believed. (video at link).   Accused Ohio Democrat Obama activist is on camera admitting she “voted twice for Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama’s right to sit as President of the United States.”

A flurry of voter fraud subpoenas have issued in Hamilton County regarding the 2012 Presidential election.  Part of the investigation involves Meloweese Richardson.  Richardson registered “thousands of voters” and is an Obama activist. She admits on camera she voted twice.  She is also a poll worker in Ohio and her activities at the polls are part of a wide ranging investigation.

Meloweese Richardson is going to be talked about for a very long time.  She also admits on camera voting for her daughter India.  This is the same sort of behavior which occurred in Noxubee County Mississippi in the case of United States v. Ike Brown - double voting, poll worker collusion, absentee fraud, false voting at the polls.  Her double voting sounds like Carrie Kate Windham’s behavior in Mississippi.  Windham was a Democrat Party official that cast votes illegally for other people.

It seems to keep on going, and a whole bunch of “experts” on elections write books and blogs minimizing the criminal behavior.  Could it be because they and Richardson are allied politically?  Whatever the reason, the vote fraud deniers do a disservice to the Rule of Law they profess to support.

Study finds that Early Voting lines actually longer than Election Day lines

study finds that the “solution” or proposed reform of mandatory nationwide early voting may be worse than the problem, if your goal is to simply reduce lines.  The myth that lines were longer in 2012 than 2008 were dispelled again with new information that showed 13% of voters in 2012 waited more than 30 minutes while 14% reported doing so in 2008.

“True the Vote sues for inspection of West-Murphy election records”

Human EventsTrue the Vote, a group dedicated to protecting ballot integrity and ensuring fair
election contests, has filed suit against the St. Lucie County

“all records pertaining to the recent 18th Congressional District
election and subsequent recounts between Rep. Allen West and Patrick
Murphy be reviewed in order to perform a comprehensive third-party
audit.”
