Not Every Wisconsin Sheriff Ignores Felon Fraud

In Waukesha County, the state’s third most populous county, county jail administrator Mike Giese said that his jail does take steps to stop ineligible felons from voting. “We always check to make sure they are not felons,” Giese said of inmates who apply for an absentee ballot. If a felon were to submit an ineligible request for an absentee ballot, jail officers would prevent it from going through.


 


In Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls said that if an ineligible felon tried to vote through his jail they would make sure they followed the action and caught the inmate. He didn’t seem to agree with Mahoney’s reasoning that sheriffs are not responsible for holding those in jail accountable for their actions.

“Despite the @FVAP efforts to increase military voter participation this election year, the number of service members who requested absentee ballots has declined dramatically across the board compared to the 2008 elections. . . .

The number of absentee ballots being requested is shockingly low,” said @MVPProject, founder and executive director of @MVP, in a press release. “While we knew the number of absentee ballots requests would increase as we got closer to the election — and they have — the number being requested is still way too low and indicates that many military members will have their voices silenced on #ElectionDay.


The @MVP report indicates that @FVAP failed to create voter registration offices that would provide voting assistance to every #military member when they checked into a new station.”

@FVAP is relying heavily on @Twitter and @Facebook to cure the deficiencies in @FVAP implementation of the #MOVEAct, including the failure to establish voting offices on military installations, as reported by the #DOD #IG.  #USMC #TCOT

More on DOJ’s Late Lawsuit and #FVAPFail @PJMedia

PJ Media has more on the three week delay in bringing the lawsuit against Vermont for screwing military voters.

“Naturally the swift and efficient DOJ Voting section waited nearly three weeks to bring the federal lawsuit. To anyone who has worked in the Voting Section, the reason(s) it takes so long for military voting enforcement to activate are entirely obvious, and must be comprehensively overhauled in a Romney administration.


These lost 19 days will disenfranchise military voters. DOJ should have filed a complaint within the first week of non-compliance, and demanded either a consent decree or TRO that forced Vermont to use express delivery of ballots from that moment forward. Instead, DOJ’s current leadership thinks that a slow leisurely litigation schedule that tacks on extra days to return ballots after the election is already over is the solution. That thinking needs to be removed from DOJ in 2013. . . .

I’ve talked with scores of military voters in the last 2 years that describe a voting system that is so inefficient that large numbers of folks who wear the uniform simply bail out of the process. This is a sickening tragedy that must be once and for all fixed by a new administration. Fundamental changes must be made @FVAP (#IGReportsaysFAIL), where social media is seen as the solution to the problem. Vermont UOCAVA Lawsuit

 Vermont lawsuit.  But why not Mass????  

Vermont suit filed 26 days before the election – nineteen days after it could have been filed.  After the election, a Romney administration is going to have to overhaul UOCAVA enforcement inside DOJ.  It shouldn’t take 19 days to file a complaint.  It shouldn’t take 4, but under the existing infrastructure, sadly it does.  I detail the particular changes a Romney Justice Department will need  to implement to correct his mess in my book Injustice.

Latino voters strongly support voter ID and overwhelming have IDs

Latino voters have been at the center of the voter ID law
controversy, and yet according to a new poll released Thursday, they are
not too bothered by it. 

In its most recent study, the Pew Hispanic Center found that as many
as 71 percent of Latino registered voters support the controversial law,
which this year will be enforced for the first time in 11 states. Among
all registered voters, the ID law, which requires voters to show photo
identification in order to cast a ballot, is supported by 77 percent.

Consistent with this, 97 percent of those Latinos surveyed said they
are confident they have the ID needed to vote in their state.
