“Voter integrity group True the Vote has issued a formal request to Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings asking him to retract defamatory statements he made about the Houston based group on national television and in writing. “Not only has Cummings made false statements about the mission of True the Vote, he has also misled the public about the group’s response to an October 4 request from Cummings for documents, a request he has no authority to enforce. . . “Cummings is in bed with groups like the AFL-CIO, SEIU, NAACP and others. In this case, he is abusing his congressional power in an effort to intimidate True the Vote and to carry out the agendas of the groups just mentioned. As the letter states above, he should at the very least retract his smears.” Townhall.com has the story and the demand letter to Cummings.

Arrogance meets paranoia: Credit for no “vote suppressors”
The Nation takes credit for there being no “vote suppressors” at the polls. Next think you know, they’ll take credit for no witches or goblins at the polls to scare people. One cannot take credit for scaring away that which never existed. You simply must read it to believe it.
“News reports [like the LA Times] from other areas like Ohio also showed no intimidation in play, but erroneously concluded that was because it was never a problem to begin with. That’s a silly if not naive interpretation. If intimidation isn’t showing its face, it’s because a legion of voting rights reporters exposed the plans and intentions of ballot bullies and voter harassment artists like True the Vote and their tea party affiliates. “
Accurate re-write: If intimidation isn’t showing its face, it’s because it never existed except in the minds of the racially paranoid who needed a way to stoke up a disenchanted base.
Early Voting Laws No Longer Helping Democrats
House Armed Services Committee: “Our military voters deserve fairness”
Congressman Joe Wilson pens an editorial on how military voters deserve better. This is not the message that DoD wants to be hearing from a leading member of the Armed Services Committee, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.
…the Pentagon has not implemented these requirements set forth in the
MOVE Act. Many of voting assistance offices were never created and our
brave men and women serving in uniform have not been given the access to
voting assistance that was promised to them. These failures have had a
tremendous impact on our troops’ ability to vote.
As chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military
Personnel, I am committed to taking an active role in getting to the
bottom of this inability to provide fairness to our military personnel,
the ones who dedicate their lives to protect our freedoms.
Next year, there may be a number of hearings with questions and explanations.

A bit uninformed speculation. They should stick to crazy political poll watching.
The Left Cries Wolf on Voter Intimidation
From the LA Times:
“The observer from True the Vote turned out to be a courteous, no-nonsense lady in a pink seersucker blouse and gray slacks. She said she was Carolyn Pham, 62, a retired small businesswoman with 12 years of experience as a Republican pollwatcher before she joined True the Vote.”
Someone alert Rep. Elijah Cummings. Sound the alarm to the Nation. Carolyn Pham in her pink blouse is on the loose at Ohio early voting sites.

“Election fraud not an abstract concern in W.Va.”
With early and absentee voting already under way, West Virginia and
federal officials are hoping to prevent any fraud before it happens as
Election Day approaches.
Authorities have reason to be wary. As recently as 2010, conspiracies
have plotted to sway balloting in the state. The since-resigned sheriff
and clerk of Lincoln County, along with one of its commissioners,
pleaded guilty earlier this year to federal charges arising from a
scheme to influence the 2010 Democratic primary with absentee ballots. Link to full story.
“Republicans poised for gains in governor’s races”
Fox News reports: Republicans are in position to extend their recent gains among
governors as they compete for seats they haven’t won in a
quarter-century. Of the 11 states with gubernatorial elections in November, eight are
now led by Democrats, and each of the most competitive races is a GOP
pickup opportunity. The numbers suggests that Republicans soon will claim
