Boston Herald: “Voter Rolls Unverified”

Link.  “Rep. Thomas J. Rooney (R-Fla.) captured the frustration many Floridians feel as the White House labors feverishly against ballot integrity. As Rooney wrote to Attorney General Eric Holder on June 6: “While your department should be working with Florida to stop voter fraud, you are instead actively working to keep noncitizens — who have committed a felony — on our state’s voter rolls.””

“Florida ‘purge’ update: 96 illegal voters found, and counting”

Update from Florida:  While partisan Democrats and vote-fraud enthusiasts bleat about the supposed unfairness of validating voter registration,
the state of Florida quietly continues discovering illegal voters.
Responses to the certified letters sent to 2,600 questionable registered
voters continue to trickle in.  Many of those challenged by the Florida
Department of State have been able to produce documentation showing
they are, in fact, legal voters.

And many have not.

The one thing you almost never hear in media reports about
this supposedly “controversial” procedure, which the Justice Department
just filed suit to halt, is how many illegal voters it has discovered.
According to a report in the Naples Daily News on Wednesday, that tally now stands at 96.

That’s ninety-six people who would have been “disenfranchised” if
Florida had not detected the ineligible voters.  The number of
legitimate voters accidentally and unfairly disenfranchised by Florida’s
procedure, meanwhile, is zero.

VP contender Marco Rubio defends citizen verification of voters

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on Tuesday defended controversial efforts by
Florida Gov. Rick Scott to purge the Sunshine State’s voter rolls,
denying it has targeted Hispanics.

“I wouldn’t characterize it as an effort to purge Latinos from the
voting rolls,” Rubio told reporters at a breakfast hosted by Bloomberg
News. “I think there’s the goal of ensuring that everyone who votes in
Florida is qualified to vote. If you’re not a citizen of the United
States, you shouldn’t be voting. That’s the law.”  Full Story at the link.

“Holder Defends Foreigners Voting in Florida Elections”

PJ Media Rule of Law: “Holder is ultimately defending foreigners voting in American elections. Try that position on for size amongst the general public, and Obama’s campaign strategists aren’t going to like the outcome. . . . After the fight between Florida and Eric Holder sorts out, it will be time to prosecute the foreigners who registered and voted in Florida elections. It is a felony under both Florida and federal law for a foreigner to register and vote. The ones who did should go to jail. It is pretty clear that only Florida has any interest in charging these illegal registrants.”
