Veritas Redux

More DC ballots offered with NO ID required – and NO signature: “Ben Jealous”, “Bill Maher”, “David Brock”.

And a cameo appearance by Saul Alinsky, from whom Veritas borrows “Rule 4”: Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.  Like Eric Holder’s DOJ, David Brock’s Media Matters offices require visitors to show photo ID.

New Black Panthers Ignore Rule of Law with Impunity. Again.

Because They Can.  Reports John Fund via NRO,

a relative of George Zimmerman wrote to Attorney General Holder this week noting the threats. “The Zimmerman family is in hiding because of the threats that have been made against us, yet the DOJ has maintained an eerie silence in this matter. . . Why, when the law of the land is crystal clear, is your office not arresting the New Black Panthers for hate crimes? . . . Since when can a group of people in the United States put a bounty on someone’s head, circulate Wanted posters publicly, and still be walking the streets?”

Since when?  Apparently since 2009, when Eric Holder took over at DOJ and dropped charges in another now-infamous NBPP intimidation case after a default judgment had been entered against them, prompting the U.S. Civil Rights Commission to conclude, “We believe the Department’s defense of its actions thus far undermines respect for rule of law.”

ACLU Challenging PA Voter ID Law

Of course they are.  Newsmax reports:

The American Civil Liberties Union is challenging Pennsylvania’s new voter identification law, saying it discriminates against the elderly, poor, disabled, and urban voters.  The law was just signed in March by Gov. Tom Corbett, but the ACLU plans to file a lawsuit by the end of this month seeking to have it declared unconstitutional.

Rather than mere conjecture about potential discrimination, why not draw on Lessons from the Voter ID Experience in Georgia for the likely impact of Voter ID laws:

The increase in turnout of both Hispanics and blacks in the 2008 presidential election after the voter ID law became effective is quite remarkable. . . In fact, Georgia had the largest turnout of minority voters in its history.

“Wisconsin Preps as Though Voter ID Law in Effect”

Wisconsin election officials say they are prepared for the Republican
presidential primary on April 3 despite uncertainty over the state’s
contested photo identification law.

The Government Accountability Board, which is in charge of elections, is
continuing to train inspectors and poll workers on the use of
state-issued photo identification, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

Missouri state court stalls voter ID effort over ballot summary

An effort to make Missourians show photo identification at the voting
booth suffered a setback this week after a Cole County judge tossed a
constitutional amendment related to the issue. The
amendment would have allowed lawmakers to craft a bill that would enact
a voter identification law. On Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge Pat Joyce
ruled the ballot summary was “insufficient and unfair” and asked
lawmakers to rewrite it.

“Top Obama donors among frequent White House guests”

President Barack Obama is using privileged access to one of America’s
greatest landmarks to reward his most generous financial supporters in
ways that Republicans Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum can’t match: More
than 60 of Obama’s biggest campaign donors have visited the White House
more than once for meetings with top advisers, holiday parties or state
dinners, a review by The Associated Press has found.

“Republicans tout Redistricting Gains”

National Republicans believe they have narrowed the number of seats
for which Democrats can seriously compete, a result of a redistricting
cycle that heavily favored the current Congressional majority. In a
memo set to be released today, the NRCC will be touting 16
Democratic-held seats it believes are in play as a result of the
process.

In the memo, NRCC executive director Guy Harrison
argues that the process has made 16 Democratic-held seats more
competitive while making just 14 Republican-held seats more competitive.
The memo also claims that redistricting has taken more Republican-held
seats than Democratic-held seats out of play.

Of course, the Democrats narrowed the competition in California and Illinois.
