The controversial 2010 Supreme Court ruling is already bringing us more competitive campaigns, funnier ads and greater freedom of speech.  More competitive GOP presidential race, freeing interest groups from party dependency, guaranteed big laffs, good enough for the President, and shaking up local races.

Common Cause Colorado is opposing Secretary of State Gessler’s efforts to determine if illegal aliens are on the voter rolls.  Gessler merely asked for the cooperation of the Department of Homeland Security to idetify if non-citizens are on Colorado voter rolls.  Enter Common Cause, demanding the effort stop.

A frenzy of shared talking points to limit the political speech of others with the short term goal being a self-reversal of the Supreme Court as the quickest route to that end.  Of course, the goal is pushed by the mainstream media.  Perhaps, Karl Rove is onto something. In St. Louis, MSNBC host Sharpton compares the “Voter ID” issue to Jim Crow laws of the past, telling the crowded auditorium that “Your water fountain is voter ID.”  Link to article.  Is this really inside the bounds of debate?  It is dreadful that the media allows such rhetoric without raising the penalty flag.  Unfortunately, it is really par for the course. Just recently, the ACLU also compared voter ID to the
segregation of the Jim Crow era. We all know what imagery is coming next and it won’t be pretty. And yet Sharpton is allowed to preach his version of racial unity on his own show and on national news shows.
