ACLU, LULAC oppose Iowa citizen voter verifications from federal database

A judge heard arguments Thursday over whether Iowa Secretary of State
Matt Schultz exceeded his authority in a search for thousands of
possible ineligible voters before November’s election. Attorneys
for the American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa and a Latino advocacy
group, League of United Latin American Citizens, argued for an
injunction to halt an effort to check identities against a federal
immigration database to determine citizenship.

..[Deputy state attorney general Jeffrey] Thompson, however, said the groups have misinterpreted the rule. By
eliminating access to the federal database, the likelihood increases
that the state will mistakenly challenge citizens’ right to vote. He
also noted that the emergency rule would only be in effect for this
election cycle. After November’s election, Schultz’s office will solicit
public comment and adjust the rules if needed, he said.

“White Southern Democrat Congressmen: An endangered breed”

The Washington Post: “It’s possible there won’t be a single white Democratic member of
Congress from Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Arkansas, and maybe just one or two from North Carolina, Tennessee,
possibly for the next decade,” said David Wasserman, who tracks House
races for the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. “The only case under which a conservative Democrat could win in those states would be because of a scandal or a national Democratic wave.” Once the dominant part of the South, Democrats saw their power decline with Lyndon B. Johnson’s embrace of civil rights reforms and the rise of evangelical Republicans.

It appears the liberal main stream media is blaming the Voting Rights Act for the political failures of white Democrats.

Reporters in Charlotte Violating FEC Rules?

I’m sure the election crimes branch at the DOJ will be right on this conduit/false names case:

“The woman working at the souvenir stand told us she hadn’t been “too busy” during the day, but had seen business pick up in the past half hour or so. She then asked us whether we wanted to buy anything. When we informed her that our status as a reporter means we don’t buy campaign gear, she suggested a strategy other members of the media have apparently used to pick up their Obama swag.

“Have you ever thought of making up a fake name? That’s what the other guys do,” she said.

Buying official merchandise at the DNC means making a donation the Obama campaign, an activity that is generally frowned upon for members of the media. The Obama campaign website specifically informs shoppers that purchases amount to donations.”

Texas Wins Round in Fight Against Registration Fraud

Once again, Project Vote fights election integrity measures.  “The new rules included barring non-Texans from becoming volunteer deputy registrars, or VDRs; prohibiting them from accepting applications for residents outside the county in which they were appointed; requiring them to personally deliver rather than mail applications to election officials; and restricting their compensation.”
