Best wishes and prayers for Ike Brown. Those who have read my book Injustice are already familiar with Brown. He is the Chair of the Noxubee Democratic Executive Committee. Word has gotten to me that he had a stroke and is recuperating in a Tupelo (MS) hospital. While Brown was found liable for violating the Voting Rights Act, many of us spent a great deal of time with him and came to know him. As I wrote in my book Injustice:

Quick in conversation and boasting an encyclopedic knowledge of history and of the Dallas Cowboys, he has undeniable charisma, even if it is unpolished and rash at times. NAACP: Voter ID Fight Like “Great Civil Rights Battles”
Fox has more. One big difference – in the 1960’s the majority of the American people agreed with the NAACP. Not anymore on Voter ID. Another difference – in the 1960’s the battle was about justice and equality.
The modern fight against Voter ID enables lawlessness and, worse, permanently disconnects a group of Americans from the mainstream of American economic life. I’ve had to use my ID three times this week already – to board a plane, to check into a hotel, and to rent a car. Obviously those activities aren’t constitutionally protected, but rather than keeping those without ID’s in permanent second class citizenship, Voter ID opponents could be working to help people obtain the free ID’s so they can fully participate in the American economy.
