Albany Times Union.  “Pulver derailed Premo’s attempts to get Smith disqualified and refused to hold a hearing requested by the defense to examine the issue. Premo has filed documents arguing that Smith acted out of political revenge and favoritism indicting only McDonough and LoPorto when seven other Democrats were named during the investigation.”

Full story here.  It would seem the only solution to this is for Indiana to revoke the franchise for convicted felons, not just convicted felons in prison.  Otherwise, it will be difficult to prevent them from entering schools to vote.

The law expands contests where the military are entitled to a ballot.

“Of the 22,459 registered voters in ESL, only 7,649 (34 percent) even bothered to vote. Then approximately 3,700 absentee ballots were requested (nearly half the total number of voters who went to the polls), as opposed to only 577 absentee ballots requested only four years ago.”  St. Louis American.

Donna Brazille picks up where where yesterday’s New York Times editorial left off:

“Republicans have knowingly trumpeted false claims about rampant voter fraud. They know these claims to be false. Indeed, every effort to demonstrate widespread fraud at the ballot box has failed to turn up evidence that such fraud exists.”

I suppose the insertion of the words “rampant” and “widespread” is what makes the statement defensible.  Some people have higher tolerances for fraud than others.  Some have different views as to what constitutes “rampant” and “widespread.”
