The Medrano family voter fraud trial begins in Dallas, Texas:
Allegations of voter fraud involving the powerful Medrano family of Dallas are playing out in a Rockwall County courthouse.
Two Medrano family members are on trial for allegedly trying to rig
an election. Many of the accusations stem from a News 8 Investigation
two years ago.
A total of seven members of the Medrano family are facing trial on
charges of illegal voting and lying to a grand jury. We first reported
on alleged voting irregularities back in the spring of 2010.
Incumbent Justice of the Peace Luis Sepulveda first filed a complaint
with state officials after losing to Carlos Medrano by just a handful
of votes.
Our investigation first revealed that two of Medrano’s nieces voted for their uncle while apparently living in another city.
One of those nieces, Veronica Medrano has since confessed to
prosecutors that they were encouraged to vote illegally by their Uncle
Carlos.
On Tuesday, their father Frank and Uncle Carlos Medrano went on trial
in Rockwall for voter fraud. Five other Medrano family members will
also stand trial on voter fraud charges in the coming weeks.
