Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner told local election supervisors that efforts to identify and remove non-U.S. citizens from the state’s voter rolls will be delayed again – this time due to changes to the DHS Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, used to help identify potential ineligible non-citizens, that won’t be done before the 2014 election. The state wanted to match potential ineligible voters found on the voter rolls with the names maintained by the federal government. Detzner said the changes proposed for the database should “enhance and improve the credibility” of the system, but that the work would not be complete until 2015… Detzner did remind election supervisors that they remain responsible for removing any ineligible voters if they receive any information questioning a person’s voter registration status.
