The United Steel Workers union issued a statement approving of the work of Senator Dick Durbin in holding a hearing on. . . voter ID. Obviously an all-hands-on-deck approach to an issue having nothing to do with steel or labor. The USW statement failed to include the “solution in search of a problem” talking point. Nuance and flair, however, has never really been a strong suit of the USW. And until recently, neither were they terribly concerned about minority rights. Ask Robert Eliserio (aka “Taco Bob” or “Buritto Bob” to USW members).
