The Majority Leader in the Senate today pulled the Perez nomination vote because he knew it would not pass. Harry Reid delayed the vote on Tom Perez until May 16 after Republicans were prepared to block it. Senate sources tell me that Senate Republicans were ready to use a procedural rule to block all consideration of Perez today by the Labor Committee. As reported below, the Perez nomination took a bad turn when Senate Minority Leader McConnell came out against him. Other Republicans are falling in line to support a letter to the White House asking for a different nominee. If that letter gets 41 signatories, the nomination is dead.
